1. About Out of the Box Interiors

General Questions.

What we do, who we are, and why it matters that we’re local.

What services does Out of the Box Interiors offer?

We offer complete, end-to-end turnkey home interior design — from your first consultation and 3D design to material procurement, site execution, and final handover. Services include modular kitchens, wardrobes, TV units, false ceilings, crockery and pooja units, custom furniture, full living room/bedroom/kitchen interiors, and complete 1BHK/2BHK/3BHK turnkey packages. We also handle resale flat renovations, which require civil, electrical, and waterproofing work before the design phase — a major chunk of our PCMC clientele. If you want only design consultancy or only specific units, we can structure a scope to suit you.

How long has Out of the Box Interiors been operating, and how many homes have you designed?

We were founded in 2011 and have been operating continuously for over 14 years. As of 2026, we’ve completed interiors for 600+ homes across Pimpri-Chinchwad, Wakad, Ravet, Baner, Hinjewadi, Tathawade, Punawale, and the wider Pune belt — with 257 Google reviews and a team of 200+ design and execution professionals. We’re not a pop-up studio and we’re not a national franchise with a Pune branch — this is our home turf.

Do you work on resale flat renovation, or only new-possession flats?**

Both — and resale flats make up a large portion of our PCMC projects. Older flats in Pimpri, Chinchwad, and Nigdi typically need electrical rewiring, waterproofing, and sometimes plumbing work *before* the design work begins. We flag this clearly at the first site visit, not after you’ve signed. Budget an extra ₹1 – 2.5 lakh for renovation-grade civil work in a resale 2BHK. For new-possession flats in towers like those in Ravet and Hinjewadi, the scope is usually straight furniture and storage.

How is hiring Out of the Box Interiors different from hiring a local contractor?

A contractor gives you a verbal quote and executes — you manage timelines, material sourcing, and quality control yourself. We’re a design-led turnkey studio: we do the 3D design, source every material with brands named upfront, supervise daily site execution, and hand over a finished home under one roof and one point of accountability. Turnkey costs more on paper; it almost always costs less in practice once you count the cost of rework, three months of site-visit leave, and the stress of coordinating multiple trades. See our detailed breakdown → [Interior designer vs contractor — which should you hire? → link to blog post].

Do I need to have a clear design idea before contacting you?

Not at all. Many of our clients come in saying “I want it to look nice and work well — you figure out the rest.” Our consultation starts by understanding how you live: how you use the kitchen, how much storage you need, whether you have school-age kids or work from home. The design direction comes from that conversation, not the other way around. If you do have a Pinterest board or reference images, bring them — it speeds things up, but it’s not a prerequisite.

2. Interior Design Cost & Budget

Interior Design Cost in Pune & PCMC

This section is your quick-reference pricing guide for PCMC and Pune (2026).

How much does a 2BHK interior design cost in Pune?

A full 2BHK interior in Pune costs ₹8 – 12 lakh for a complete turnkey package  A kitchen-and-wardrobes-only scope starts around ₹3.5 lakh; premium full-home packages with custom furniture reach ₹12 – 16 lakh; resale-flat renovations with civil work land in the ₹12 – 16 lakh range. The most common mid-range PCMC 2BHK project (kitchen, 2 wardrobes, TV unit, false ceiling, paint coordination) runs ₹6 – 9 lakh and takes 45 – 60 days.

How much does a modular kitchen cost in Pimpri-Chinchwad?

A modular kitchen in Pimpri-Chinchwad costs ₹1 lakh – ₹3 lakh for most standard flat layouts. Straight and compact L-shaped kitchens start around ₹1 – 1.5 lakh (common in 1BHKs and compact 2BHKs in Punawale and Tathawade). Standard L-shaped kitchens for a 2BHK run ₹1.5 – 2.2 lakh. Large L or U-shaped kitchens with tall units and premium finishes in 3BHK homes reach ₹2.2 – 3 lakh. Premium acrylic/PU kitchens with built-in appliances and quartz counters go ₹3 – 5 lakh+.

What is the average interior design cost per sq ft in Pune?

Turnkey interior design in Pune averages ₹1,200 – ₹2,800 per sq ft of carpet area, depending on finish level:
– Essential (laminate, standard hardware): ₹1,200 – ₹1,600 per sq ft
– Premium (acrylic/membrane, Hettich-class hardware, false ceiling): ₹1,600 – ₹2,200 per sq ft
– Luxury (veneer/PU, Blum-class hardware, civil rework, custom furniture): ₹2,200 – ₹2,800+ per sq ft

One important caveat: “per sq ft” quotes across the industry can hide more than they reveal — some firms quote on carpet area, others on built-up. Always ask what’s included and what area basis is being used. Our quotes are on carpet area, itemized by unit.

Is ₹5 lakh enough for a 2BHK interior in Pune?

Yes — for a well-planned essentials package. ₹5 lakh comfortably covers a modular kitchen, two wardrobes, and a TV unit in quality laminate finishes for a standard 2BHK. It won’t stretch to full false ceiling work, custom furniture, and premium materials throughout. The practical approach most PCMC families take: ₹5 – 7 lakh for the essentials before moving in (kitchen, storage, TV unit), then the decorative layer (false ceiling, feature wall, upholstered furniture) six to twelve months later when the budget has recovered.

What are the biggest factors that affect my interior design budget?

After 600+ homes, the five factors that genuinely move the number:

1. **Materials** — the jump from laminate to acrylic to PU/veneer can double a kitchen’s cost with no change in layout. This is the single biggest lever.
2. **New flat vs. resale flat** — new possession flats in Ravet or Hinjewadi need mostly furniture and storage; a 15-year-old Pimpri resale flat may need rewiring, waterproofing, and plumbing first.
3. **Scope** — “full home interior” and “kitchen + wardrobes” are very different projects. Define scope first, budget follows.
4. **Civil and electrical changes** — breaking a wall, moving a kitchen platform, adding points. Each is manageable; they compound.
5. **Design freeze** — mid-project changes add 20 – 30% to both budget and timeline. Finalize the design before execution starts.

Does your quote include GST? What other costs should I watch for?

All our quotes are clearly stated as inclusive or exclusive of GST —  Watch for these hidden costs when comparing quotes from any designer: GST treatment, society permission fees, debris removal, resale-flat rewiring (₹30,000 – 60,000), plumbing changes (₹20,000 – 40,000), and whether the rate is on carpet area or built-up area. Compare quotes line by line, not by the bottom number.

3. Design Process & Planning

What is your interior design process from first call to handover?

  • Free consultation & site visit — we visit your flat, take measurements, and understand your brief, lifestyle, and budget.
  • Scope & proposal — within a few days, we share a scope document with itemized pricing. No obligation to proceed.
  • 3D design — once you confirm, our design team produces 3D views of every room so you can see exactly how your home will look before a single screw goes in.
  • Material selection — you review and approve every finish, hardware brand, and fitting at our studio or via samples.
  • Design freeze — once you sign off on designs and materials, we lock the scope and begin procurement.
  • Site execution — our in-house supervisors manage daily site work. You get regular progress updates.
  • Handover — final inspection together, snag list addressed, keys handed back.

Do you provide 3D designs before starting execution?

Yes. 3D visualization is a core part of our process, not an add-on. You will see photorealistic 3D renders of every room — kitchen, bedrooms, living area — before any material is procured or any work begins on site. The final result is meant to match the 3D. If you want to make changes, the right time is at the 3D stage, not once the carcasses are installed.

Can I share my own design ideas — Pinterest boards, Instagram saves, YouTube walkthroughs?

Absolutely, and we encourage it. Reference images give us the fastest window into what you like and what you don’t. We’ve had clients walk in with a 200-pin Pinterest board and that’s genuinely useful — it tells us the color temperature you gravitate toward, the hardware style you find appealing, whether you’re drawn to minimal or layered interiors. Bring everything. We’ll identify the consistent thread and design to it.

Do you consider Vastu Shastra in your designs?

Yes, on request. Many of our PCMC clients — particularly resale-flat buyers in older Pimpri and Chinchwad societies — ask for Vastu alignment in kitchen placement, master bedroom orientation, and pooja unit positioning. We can work to Vastu principles without compromising functionality or aesthetics. See our blog on [Vastu tips for kitchen placement in resale flats → link to blog post] if you want to read through the basics before our consultation.

Can you incorporate my existing furniture into the new design?

Yes. We design around what you’re keeping — your existing sofa, dining set, or heirloom furniture can anchor the design rather than be discarded. We’ll build the layout and material palette around your existing key pieces and match or complement them with new elements.

4. Service Areas — PCMC & Pune

Which areas in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad do you serve?

Our studio is in Tathawade, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and our entire team operates within a 50 km radius of Pimpri. We serve every locality across the PCMC belt and west Pune:

Tier 1 (densest service areas): Pimpri-Chinchwad · Wakad · Baner · Hinjewadi · Ravet · Tathawade

Also serving: Punawale · Pimple Saudagar · Balewadi · Pashan · Sus · Vishal Nagar · Nigdi · Akurdi · Moshi · Chikhali · Dehu Road

What makes you different from national interior design brands like Livspace or HomeLane that also operate in Pune?

National brands bring large teams and polished digital experiences. What they can’t bring is what we’ve spent 14 years building: hyperlocal knowledge. We know that Hinjewadi and Wakad towers hand over bare-shell with compact kitchens, while older Pimpri and Chinchwad societies need renovation-first thinking. Our project supervisors can be at your site in 20 minutes if something needs attention — not in 2 days. Our 4.8 Google Rating and more than 250  Google reviews are from real homeowners in your pin codes, not aggregated nationally. And because our overheads aren’t national — no experience centres in 15 cities — our price for the same quality of work is lower.
